Megamind has knocked Harry Potter 7 off its perch, doing extremely well over its first official weekend with takings of $2.46m. Potter’s still there on just over $2m though and it’s not going anywhere, while the latest Narnia completed a kids trifecta to come in third. School holidays means this will be a recurring pattern for the coming weeks.
With a massive drop between fourth and fifth on the list, takings weren’t widely shared (as to be expected). New release Tron: Legacy will appeal to young and old and should fare well for cult cinema fans. Expect the top three to stick around.
