The folks over at Badassdigest have the scoop on some possible plot details to Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated Batman sequel, The Dark Knight Rises. Although nothing can be confirmed at this point, they claim to have received the information from a reliable source close to the production. Be warned: if these rumors turn out to be true, there could be some serious spoilers ahead. So if you don’t want to know what happens after The Dark Knight, then click your little back button home.
According to their source, Batman and Catwoman must join forces at some point during the film in order to destroy a growing threat in Gotham city. But what is this threat, I hear you say?
Well, this menace is none other than The League of Shadows! For those who aren’t up to date on their Batman mythology, The League of Shadows are the Ninja cult first seen in Batman Begins led by Ra’s Al Ghul (Liam Neeson). This time, however, The League of Shadows will be under the control of Talia Al Ghul Ra’s’ daughter RUMOURED to be played by Nolan favourite and Inception star Marion Cotillard. Bane’s role in all of this is that of Talia’s bodyguard which, if true, will hopefully be handled with more finesse than the similar relationship between Bane and Poison Ivy in Schumacher’s fluro flop Batman & Robin.
Badassdigest’s source also revealed that Joseph Gordon Levitt — another Inceptionator — is indeed in a starring role and will be some kind of antagonist.
Personally, I am taking all of this with a grain of salt because A) I don’t want to get my hopes up and B) By now Nolan has become a master at the sleight of hand when it comes to hiding plot details on all of his films.
Either way, my anticipation for this film has skyrocketed. With Catwoman all but confirmed, I salivate at the thought of how Nolan will shoot the inevitable chase scene between the Cat and the Bat through his steely-blue Gotham city, dipping, diving and weaving through skyscrapers. So what do you think? Does this sound like a likely premise for the Bat’s next outing?
