The glitz and glamour of the Golden Globes are back this year after last year’s hiatus. Just as important as the awards won are the winners and sinners on the red carpet. Who got it right, finding a beautiful combination of hair, makeup, dress and accessories? And who got it so wrong that we wonder if they even looked in the mirror before they left home? I have chosen several of the stunners and shockers of the 2009 Golden Globes for you to cast your eyes upon. As this is completely based on personal choice, be prepared for an incredibly biased, sometimes praising and sometimes scathing fashion review!!

My tips for the red carpet…

• Solid colours are hot right now, bright or pale. Steer clear of patterns.
• Timeless black is back! Well, did it ever really go away?!
• Fitted, simple designs with delicate detail are very popular.
• Never wear shorter style dresses on the red carpet. Ever.
• Soft, classic up-dos add a touch of class.
• Don’t overdo the jewellery: choose elegant earrings or a nice necklace, and a small bracelet or a few bangles. Too much jewellery detracts from the dress.
• For the guys, sweep back the hair and add some volume, wear skinny ties and put on some cool sunnies to finish the look.
