The Headlines from this week’s Between The Aisles – The best Hollywood news in one post!
So as you are all aware, I was out of commission for a little while, and believe me, it hurt me more than it hurt you. I missed out on posting a lot of big news, that can now be classified as you snooze you lose news… but who cares, I’ll recap anyway.
> Emily Browning joins Snyder’s Sucker Punch
> New Inception Casting Chatter
> Dan Fogler’s Screen Test as Sam Kinison
> New Poster for Soderbergh’s The Girlfriend Experience
> New trailers for Taking Woodstock, The Hangover, HP6, Extract, Cherrybomb, Shorts, and Moon
> The Wolverine leak
If I read one more Sucker Punch pun I’m gonna…
If Zack Snyder was endeavouring to have as much press cover his new film
Sucker Punch as covered Watchmen, he’s well on his way. Here’s just a sampling at people’s attempts to cover the casting stories with wit:
So yeah, like I said, one more pun, and some bitches gonna pay.
But in any event, it was announced today that Emily Browning, better known as “Violet, you better tie your hair up” from Lemony Snicket, will be taking over the lead role of “Baby Doll” from Amanda Seyfried. I’m pretty excited for this casting call. I think it was obvious to everyone who saw Snicket, that Browning was destined for bigger things. She’s got an unusual look, decent talent, and hails from Australia, so her and Hollywood were pretty much fated. I don’t know much about Sucker Punch, except that it’s slated to feature a lot of young ladies… I just hope that doesn’t include currently listed Vanessa Hudgens. Is it mean if I say that girl needs to stick to High School Musical where she belongs?
Chris Nolan keeps you on your toes
You heard it here about
DiCaprio’s future team up with
Christopher Nolan for
Inception, an mentally internalised sci-fi actioner, and now words out that Nolan is in talks with the three pictured above about co-starring. Cillian Murphy’s a no-brainer, given he’s worked with Nolan before, and Marion Cotillard is fairly expected too, she’s on everyone’s casting wish list these days. But
Juno?… little Miss Ellen Page is unexpected. Is it possible that Nolan saw the pregnant teen and just knew had to have her? Whatever the reason, I’m had my fill of Page for awhile, so maybe he’ll back off this one.
That hat never looked so good…
Dan Fogler’s screen test as
Sam Kinison has been making its way around, and it’s given me a whole new respect for the man. Not only does he look remarkably like Kinison, but he’s able to channel the guy’s insane scream filled act without breaking a sweat (well maybe a little sweat). It was only a matter of time till a Kinison bio-pic made its way to screens. His screams can only be avoided for so long. What do you think of Fogler as Kinison? Who could do better?
I crave this Poster
Wouldn’t you?
Steven Soderbergh’s The Girlfriend Experience, aka
Pretty Woman meets anything but, is quickly shoving Hollywood aside for what lead
Sasha Grey calls, “a new breed” of star (for those of you still unaware, Sasha hails from the adult entertainment industry, and is not ashamed of her past). It’s a Soderbergh, so you never know quite what to expect, except for the unexpected, and a minimalist, jazzy score. Oh, and George Clooney, I am definitely expecting George Clooney.
Even if I hate the film, I still want/need this poster.
Trailers Galore!

Taking Woodstock Trailer
Most of what I’m reading are lackluster reactions. I agree that this looks like it will deviate a little from
Ang Lee’s typical style, but that doesn’t automatically qualify it as bad. I think it looks like it could be pretty funny at times, and
Liev Schreiber looks amazing as “Vilma.” What do you think? Will it fall flat or surpass your expectations?
The Hangover Trailer
Bangarang! The first full trailer for The Hangover has landed! I think it looks like it has the potential to be pretty funny, but I’m more curious to hear what you think…
Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince International Trailer
New trailer is out and we’re still months away, but getting closer! Dumbledore shows his “cheeky” side in this one.
Extract Trailer
Not counting Idiocracy, Extract is the first movie directed by Mike Judge since Office Space in ’99. Now the question is, do people still care about Mike Judge? Was he just a one hit wonder? Extract appears to follow Office Space like constraints, placing the lead character played by Jason Bateman in an office of sorts, coming to terms with life’s dead ends, and falling in “like” with an attractive inferior, played by Mila Kunis. Most importantly Kristen “shes in everything” Wiig and Ben “I’m not a leading man anymore” Affleck, are in it. Super.
Cherrybomb Trailer
Skins hits the big screen, well… close. First Daniel Radcliffe bares all and now
Grint takes a stab at it (that boy is so pale). In any event I am looking forward to this little British film full of debauchery and pool hopping. Agreed.
I have to say, I do not understand
Robert Rodriguez. He does
From Dusk Till Dawn and
The Faculty, then
Spy Kids. He does
Sin City and
Planet Terror, then this,
Shorts. I’m thinking the next order will be
Sin City 2, another movie about
Rose McGowan as a hooker, and then the film adaptation of adapatation of “Everyone Poops.” oh wait… looks like Spike Jonze
beat him to it.
Sam Rockwell alone in a space station for three years… insanity ensues.
Wolverine got out of his cage…
The biggest story has to be the freakin X-Men Origins leak. It seems no one can escape the horrible travesty that is this unplanned early release. And silly me, here I was thinking the earthquake in Italy was big news. But seriously, for all the hard work, time, and money that goes into making a big budget film, I feel their pain. It must really blow to have a thousands of people see an unfinished product, most of whom will likely now opt not to go out and spend $10.75 to watch the slightly altered version on the big screen. But don’t be like that, ok?
