Fellow gamers, breathe a deep sigh of relief. Hollywood have, at long last, made a video game adaptation that is not complete tripe. A game adaptation that both avid gamers and casual moviegoers can sink their teeth into. Most remarkably, a game adaptation that is almost, so nearly, as enjoyable as the game it is based on, that being the critically acclaimed action platformer Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

As a gamer myself, I have always dreamt of seeing big budget adaptations of my favourite video games. Unfortunately, The Legend of Zelda, Fallout or Shadow of the Colossus haven’t made it to the silver screen. Some fans, however, would dread the production of these titles – for good reason too. The general consensus is that film adaptations of video games are poor and unsatisfactory viewing experiences.

An Education is a coming-of-age tale centering around a British schoolgirl in the early 1960s, I think I would be safe to wager that a great number of audience members were able to identify in some way to the wide-eyed wonder Jenny experiences upon her entry to a world of jazz, restaurants and weekend jaunts to Paris, a world so far removed from essays, dorky teenage suitors and boring parents.
