Kicking off the BigPond Adelaide Film Festival for me this year was Home, a quirky, interesting and intense French feature film. Directed by Ursula Meier, Home tells the story of a family of five living a quaint and pleasant lifestyle in the French countryside next to an unused stretch of highway. This piece is road is central to the film and at first is another piece of the family’s yard and they use it as such, as though it belongs to them. The family are very happy and comfortable, to the point that it seems to have a calming effect on the mother, Marthe (Isabelle Huppert).

Who got it right, finding a beautiful combination of hair, makeup, dress and accessories? And who got it so wrong that we wonder if they even looked in the mirror before they left home? I have chosen several of the stunners and shockers of the 2009 Golden Globes for you to cast your eyes upon. As this is completely based on personal choice, be prepared for an incredibly biased, sometimes praising and sometimes scathing fashion review!!

The decorations are up, the carols are playing and the presents are wrapped and ready: Christmas time is here again! The fun and festivities of Christmas have not gone unnoticed in Hollywood; rather, many movies have been made with the silly season a main feature. Most Christmas films are made not with the intention of winning Academy Awards, but to put a smile on your face, make you feel good and get you into the Christmas spirit. Being a Christmas nut, I have watched many a Christmas movie over the years, and so have put together a list of some of the most enjoyable Christmas films.
