WALL-E (Review 2)

Note by Anders (Editor):
Katina is a new author here at Cut, Print, Review! Enjoy her excellent take on Pixar’s WALL-E, which I reviewed earlier here. Welcome to the team Katina!

It could be said that Pixar haven’t been on top of their game in recent years. Although Cars and Ratatouille were well received, they weren’t propelled to the top of the box office in the same way that favourites like Finding Nemo and The Incredibles were.
Enter Wall•E.

In Bruges (Review)

I approached Martin McDonagh’s In Bruges under the guise of complete ignorance. I couldn’t have even told you the genre of the film prior to seating myself in the cinema, let alone divulge a basic plot outline. The opening montage of brooding Gothic architecture, juxtaposed with a hauntingly bare piano composition, gave me the impression I was about to endure through a profoundly morose drama. However, I couldn’t have been more wrong. If you are just as oblivious to the [...]

Journey to the Center of the Earth (Review)

One would have thought a Journey to the Center of the Earth alone would be enough to stop the little terrors from throwing popcorn at their siblings. Opening: Eagle Eye, Journey To the Center of the Earth

Second week in, and I’m already running late for this weeks Cut, Print, Preview. The weekly article where I take a cold hard look at the films being released into Australian cinemas. This week we take a look at Eagle Eye, The House Bunny and Journey to the Center of the Earth.

It’s brutal, it’s biased and you’re guaranteed  to learn next to nothing insightful about the films in question.

But you’ve got IMDB for that…

Transsiberian (Review)

Ever since director Christopher Nolan hit the mainstream with tremendous success of The Dark Knight, becoming the household name that he rightfully deserves to be, I have been forced to look for a new upcoming director to rave about to the blissfully ignorant in order to feed my obnoxious cinematic ego. Just as the credits began to roll in the neo-noir thriller Transsiberian, and Brad Anderson’s name discretely crept up the screen, I realised that my search was already over. [...]

Noise (Guest Review)

Review by Blake from Bitchin’ Film Reviews.

Noise brings much more to the table than first meets the eye. This little-seen Australian beaut from writer/director Matthew Saville (who has mostly worked on Australian TV until now) packs a punch. God bless you Sundance, for bringing Noise to our attention.

The main character Graham McGahan (Brendan Cowell) has tinnitus, which is a malfunction of the ear causing a constant high-pitch ringing, and dizzy spells. He trys to get time [...]
