Alphabet Meme

By Anders Wotzke

Fletch over at Blog Cabins has challenged fellow movie bloggers to make a list that consists of only one of their favourite films for each letter of the alphabet.
You’d think this would be an easy task, however picking just one film from common title letters such as “A” and “M” is like trying to pick a favourite child. In other cases, letters such as “Q” and “Y” have so few films, let alone good ones, you end up having to pick one you’d probably wouldn’t ever consider in a conventional favourites list.

So without further adieu, here is my list!

American History X
Batman Begins
Children of Men
Dark City
Emperor’s New Groove
Fargo
Goldeneye (007)
Hellboy
Insomnia
Jurassic Park
Kenny (2006)
Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
Memento
No Country For Old Men
Once Were Warriors
Prestige, The
Quiet American, The
Rear Window
Shining, The
Transsiberian
Untouchables, The
V for Vendetta
Wall-E (Nic Cage’s brilliant perfomance in Wicker Man a close second…)
X-men 2
You Only Live Twice (007)
Zodiac

There you have it! What do you think, agree? Disagree? Couldn’t care less? Leave a comment, or better yet, post your own list!

So I now pass the batton onto:
John at FlickRater
Nick at Fataculture
FilmDr at The Film Doctor
T.S at Screen Savour

Care to take the challenge?

  1. Jess Said,

I just did mine. I’m not sure there’s another choice for V is there? Lots of dark movies, almost a theme throughout. Great list of films though.

  2. Anders Said,

    @Jess
Yeah V was another one of those letters.
Although V For Vendetta was such a cool film that it was still an easy choice.

I never realised how many dark films there were….but you’re totally right!
I guess dark films are usually the most thought provoking and lasting.
I’m not really a romantic comedy person, whilst I do still enjoy them, they will seldom be remembered outside the cinema in lists like this.

  3. blake Said,

Nice list! I particularly like Transsiberian. I chose ‘Virgin Suicides’ for my V.

  4. filmdr Said,

Thanks for the challenge. I have posted my list. I didn’t realize that Transsiberian was already such a favorite, and I will look up Once Were Warriors and Kenny.

  6. Anders Said,

    @Anonymous
    Wow.
    Completely forgot about Vertigo.
In fact, so many films not on this list I have thought of since….but it doesn’t feel right changing it now. I think it’s best to keep it as is.
